Players going "away" is only prevalent in the lower tables. I assure all of you, once you hit the 2000 tables people never go "away".

I don't think this is a good idea. Away players are already "penalized" because people can take free shots at them. There's no need for more than that--it's not like they're cheating by sitting out.

Why not. Surrender means surrender.

I think "away" players have an adverse affect on the game.

1. Typically their single territory builds up to the point where it puts players at a disadvantage to capture it. In a heated turf war, your dice are spread too thin and losing a single 8 stack is terrible midgame.

2. Conversely, if one player becomes the early leader and one or more "away" players are beside their territorys, it gives this player an advantage because they have no real threat. Meanwhile, two or three other players are slaughtering each other in order to prepare to take on the dominant player.

3. When a player becomes "away," it changes the pyshcology of the players around him, such that even when a player has a huge army, they don't bother wasting time on an "away" player.

This all adds up to the phenomenon that "away" players, who only have a single territory for the majority of the game have artificially inflated scores. I don't think they should be penalized, I just think that if they occupy either the 2nd or 3rd spot, they should not recieve any points.

ffs. I thought that was a "search" box. Anyway, the recent rash of people going away for ten turns (once they've claimed land and spare dice), and then returning in the end game (after they've been entirely ignored/used as a shield) sucks balls. After you've been away for X turns you should get kicked / not be allowed to return.

I've obviously missed something basic here, but uh .. any particular reason it's a bad idea?

because. even i'm not using this kind of tricks i consider them legal. also it can take a hell lot of time to reconnect once you get nocked out of the server if your enemies didn't manage to put you it in the meantime its their own mistake. its yor approached thats flawed in my opinion.

I was thinking something similar, but only if the player was 'sat out' for a certain number of rounds

lol:Do you realize that people wait for 8vs8 not to attack with 8, but to make sure to have maximum defense on new gained terrs? Decay would mean you would never have a chance to win because after ten rounds you cant attack anymore resp. you would loose them again right away because the new dice would get distributed in the back. There are better ways to solve he "away problem"...
