Away players

Ryan, this is a problem you should certainly fix, we have been discussing about it for a long time now in the chat boxes, and everyone agrees that away players are a pain in the ass, now, i know we all agree to kill them first, but sometimes that ain't that simple cause they seem to defend strong most of time.*
So couldnt there be a penalty like less chances in dice rolling?
That would make games certainly more fair.

*For example: last game i was 2nd best player and was going for connection with a 8 stack on a 7 stack of an away player to get in first, well i lost the roll and ended up 5th because off it.

So the fact that away players don't get points by killing them first is solved, but the fact that they still steal away somebody's game and points isnt solved.

Maybe their shouldnt even be an away function, but something to replace it by or just not be their, and everybody who doesnt push the "end turn" button doesnt get a fill up or so (but this is gonna slow the game, might be able to speed the time while once not clicked, but dunno about that.

Ok, goshtlee, i see your point with lags, server problems etc...

Well, CPO3's solution could work as well or maybe even better, never tought about it that way.

But 2 come back 2 you goshtlee, it's all about the problem that somebody who starts in a game and sees he's scattered but has a 6 or 7 stacks and he decides to go on away cause he thinks he wont lose that much points because he'll last before the 7th or 6th man gets killed. Well, we just want a solution so everybody just stays in the game, and thats more a priority then gain points of making away players lose points.

So if you want to react on this thread people, this is what it's all about:
KEEPING EVERYBODY IN A GAME (not about gaining or losing points)!

So once their flag is up for being away, start taking away a dice from their biggest stack each turn

Actually, better idea, start taking a number of dice equal to the number of ousted players (or ousted players+1) from their largest stack. You know, I'm going to post this in the ideas forum

Or don't give people their changes in rating until the very end, and anyone who was away for 4 turns before being eliminated automatically ties for last place. Then you can just ignore away players or attack their territories if it's worth the risk to you. That seems like the best solution to me.

You should have to raise the amount of rounds of 4 cause bad lags or connection could take you out for a longer period.

This might not work because players can take advantage of that system, if they now you ignore away players, they'll put themselves on away if they're in a weak position and then join back in when you killed them and so not get last!

We really could have done without.

Geez, y'all really have an axe to grind on away players huh? Some sort of childhood trauma mayhap? A father that was always "away"? No other group gets so badly discriminated against here .

Why? I can't search the forum, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else and it's not in the popular ideas section. If it's been discussed before, how on earth am I meant to know about it?

A more radical idea would be that the computer plays for an away player after about 4 turns, ala Dice Wars. This woudl require other players to think about them strategically, to think about elimnating them, lest the computer takes them out, etc. Also, if the player comes back, they will still be actively in the game. I also think an away player should tie for last, no matter how the computer does. I am not sure I even agree with this idea, but it is kind of interesting, no?

There is yet a hard thing done on away players. They get no dice! This is painful if you want to stay in game! If you do not it doesn't raise your power.

If a player sits in and never moves, then perhaps some thing should be done to him because he ruins the game of other players.
