There is an idea about this issue:
http://aplayr.com/kdice/kdice/ideas/the%20porn%20images%20have%20got%20to%20be%20stopped./ it's more of a discussion, as it is not very clear what can or should be done about this. |

color = what human eye perceives. if you can present me an exact formula that calculates RGB values from wavelength Id be happy. The best I could find was a piece of estimate formula. |

at 3:52 AM, Friday April 6, 2007 EDT BTW: actually with a computer screen, you cannot produce ANY color in the rainbow.
The CIE diagramm shows what the human eye can perceive, due to its 3 different cells with different color perception. 1 is constant, the other 2 varied on the axis. You'll see the pure wavelength will be on the arc, any color you can do on a screen is in the triangle. the triangle depends on your screen. The color of white is somewhere in the middle, it DOES depend on the human eye. |

at 3:55 AM, Friday April 6, 2007 EDT "Leese, it does seem to have some areas of black fur, though it's likely just a dark brown, in the end. Other areas are much lighter, however. Perhaps a mottled cat. Patchy, even. *shrug* Not as though there's much a cat can do to the specifically defined meaning of black. Unless, perhaps, it's a cat of the Schrödinger variety. You never know what's with those. :p"
There we have it exactly. IF you get the task to get 10 "black" cats for a show, you would resign, telling "now what is a black cat"... |

at 5:58 PM, Friday April 6, 2007 EDT OK, my last argument against porn is that there is almost no point in having an avatar if people don't want to see it. It's an image that represents you, and, for everyone else to see. It makes no sense to have such an avatar if people will just click it off.
Also, if I had an avatar that offended people, I'd soon take it off. That's because I don't want to offend anyone. Now, those who still have them, obviously you aren't afraid of nonacceptance, and so, give us your argument. Tech tried to defend you guys, but, him and fuzzycat got sidetracked into the void of color. Also, there's a relative global taboo about porn, where, it's shush in the U.S., religions have be negative towards such, but (from what I've heard from friends who have been to to other countries), pornography is a common sight. I haven't looked at the ideas, but if there is a vote for not ALLOWING porn, then it seems fine. No banning of people, just a democratic outlook as to who will tolerate it and who thinks the porn goes elsewhere. That's my last argument, and I know there are holes pro-porn av people will go through in it, but, there it is. P.S. Fuzzy, where do Gendale and Squant come on the scale? ;) |

at 7:37 AM, Saturday April 7, 2007 EDT I think Ryan should jump over is shadow, trusting some people except himself and learn to "let go".
What I mean in other wurds is trust that the community is developed enough to be able to elect some of its mods, who guard whats is generally considered unapproperiate. Thats not XicaDaSilva, Chivas Avatars, thats avatars that are done really unaesthetic just to provoke some reaction... |
