I was playing Your incredible game for a long time and I enjoy it very very. I would like it to be little more strategy becouse luck factor sometimes grows up strategy one. So I have small advice how to improve it a little in mechanics. Its imposibble to change anything in attack phase - its esence of game and its nice to have a luck factor there. My tip is for deploymant phase when you get new dices. The idea is to make a "province in favor"(or call it as You like). In each round after attack player can chose one province which will have incresed propability of getting dices on. Thats the idea to move a little step thorwards more strategy playing. I would be honest to hear what do You think abaut this idea. I would like also to know what other player think so post Your comments here also please.
PS Sorry for my english ;)

Scaldis... I didn´t say that the reinforcement isn´t randomless. But there are several variables which give a higher probability for stacking up special territories... If you didn´t remarked them....

Compare the reinforcment with the original dice wars, and you will see the difference.

And WTF... if you don´t believe this point - continue playing blind... it´s only my advantage. Why the hell I´m sharing my experience of more then 1.000 games now with you? Believe me or not.

And this point has been discussed earlier, with a negative result.

Perhaps you will find it in google cache, or wise fuzzycat find it for you to implement it in his wise wiki...

But all good things are three... so I still have got a third argument against WorldOwner´s point (which is not so bad, sorry, it´s a nice idea. But not at all...):

3rd: The cool thing about kdice is also it´s simpleness, elementariness, without beeing uniteresting for more skilled players...

It´s easy to play for newbies, ´cause there are not so much things to explain. And extending this would be only the first ...

It is human nature to find patterns within any set of information, whether such patterns exist or not. Because of this, it is very hard for us to truly comprehend randomness, as we will always be searching for some sort of explanation for any information we come across.

Now, I really have no idea whether or not the distribution of dice in kdice is truly random or not, but based on the nature of the game i would assume and hope that it is. Based on this, I would tend to agree with scaldis that you (not sure what to call you, it appears you have no name) that you are simply seeing patterns that arent there.

Regarding the initial topic of the post, i think that the randomness of the game (reinforcements, initial placement, and of course the rolling of the dice themselves) is what makes it so intriguing and fun to play over and over and over and over again.

Incognito,

Believe what you want about the dice placement. I just haven't seen anything that would cause me to think that Ryan doesn't mean it when he says it is random placement. The only reason a small stack is less likely to become a big stack than an already medium sized stack is that it is starting with fewer dice, and therefore it is less likely that a 2 stack will become an 8 than a 5 stack becoming an 8 stack in any turn - simple math, not complicated formulas.
