Flags, surrender and away people

I noticed that the latest 2 ideas deal with this.
<a href="/kdice/kdice/ideas/if%20you%20surrender%2C%20you%20can%27t%20come%20back%20in/"> If you surrender, you can't come back in </a>
<a href="/kdice/kdice/ideas/if%20you%27re%20away%20for%20more%20than%203%20or%204%20turns%20you%20can%27t%20come%20back%20in/"> If you're away for more than 3 or 4 turns you can't come back in</a>
The guy that posted them is confused, but how can I blame him? There are no written rules of how this things work.

- why flag up does't mean surrender?
- when is a player considered away? what's the effect on refills? how is this related to lags etc.

These thigs were partially discussed here and there let's collect the answers on this thread.

So if you flag doesn't mean you surrender, it only means that if others attack you while flagged they are mean ...

If the flag doesn't mean surrender, how come when a flagged player gets killed the game log says "Player Surrenders and finished 7th"?

Under your logic, shouldn't it say "Player wanted the game to end, but a meanie killed him and he finished 7th"?

In war, a white flag is the international symbol for surrender.

Ummm... deal with it? I believe this game has been up for 3 months, and it's been this way and now someone really has to have a problem with it? Are people losing points in a pandemonium of flaggings and people being away?

XicaDaSilva, what do you want from this? If it isn't broken, don't fix it, really. I hate constantly posting against your opinions, and others like you, but, these ideas shouldn't be of great concern. What I mean is that leave them on the ideas section, where they can be judged.

@JDizzle787
I don't agree with those two ideas, and I see them as proof that these matters should be better explained. This will avoid the confusion (e.g. flagged people thinking that nobody shoul attack them).

Ok. Just saying I've seen Ideas like that and I ignore them

To at least explain one of them, I agreed that flagging should immediately knock you out of the game. However, what's going to happen to your dice? Actually, if you want the same effect, sit away.

The flagg has got a technical function, described at the left bar under "help":

(or select "Surrender" flag underneath your icon, which will end the game if everyone does the same).

That´s all. Nothing more! The common sense will mean, that you would be glad, if the game will end in this situation - you´re satisfied with your current placement! Or perhaps you respect the good fight of your enemies and thin that they deserve their current placement. Nothing else.

But of course you mustn´t stop attacking, as well the other players are able to continue attacking you! The rest is to deal out ingame...

SUGGESTION: how about replacing the white flag with the diamonds flag used in racing to show the goal round?

It would make it clearer then...

*points at Magnus's post* The explaination is there already. There's not much more that's worth doing, nothing is completely idiot-proof.

Here's what I've always viewed:

Flag- "I'm done, I want out, but I'll hang around." I will try to avoid killing them.

Away- "I might have lagged out, or I might have taken off, I'm not going to tell you." I try to kill them before other players, but if they've lagged out, I try to be nice.

Away & Flag- "I don't stand a chance of winning, so I'm just going to take off and leave my 8 stack in the way of everyone else." These annoy me to no end, and I go out of my way to kill them.
