Alliance Breaking

The worst thing on Kdice is when someone you've made a truce with breaks it. It's happened to me twice today and really stings.

I would like to have thought on seeing someone break a truce everyone should attack that player and force him out of the game. But both times my partner broke the truce people just laughed and saw there chance to get me out of the game.

This is a bit of a rant I know but it is really frustrating when someone does this. Only thing I can do is post' He broke our truce' on their profile. But not really that effective ;/

Anyway thoughts?

I've participated in a few alliances during playing (and have never broken any of them). However, although I would never break one myself, breaking an alliance is just as fair as having an alliance in the first place. I hate when I'm winning and other teams form an alliance against me, but it's all part of the game.

By entering into an alliance you take the chance of someone breaking it. It might not be nice and I would hate to have it done to me, but I still believe it's fair. Some people want to win more than others and will do *anything* to do so. Just another aspect that makes this game exiciting.

"However, I alos think that an alliance is broken when your "ally" cuts you off from the rest of the board, even though he or she doesn't attack you. Does anyone else think this is bad ally behvior? "

It depends.
In general, I'd say it's mildly bad truce behavior.

However, if your partner is doing towards the end of a game to assure themselves of first place... wouldn't you do that too?

If you fill up your stacks and there's still room for you to attack on the other side of the cut, tell your partner that they cut you off & you're coming through.

Genniuss, I would say its bad alliance coordination. I wouldn't call it an brake per se, they might just be stupid also.

jjledeuce, its part of the game yes. But also by breaking an alliance you risk of everybody hating you.

Kdice is a social reality sui generis. There is not objective optimal strategy. Optimal strategy depends on the other players, what they see as fair and unfair behaviour.

It's okay to break alliances, just pretty surprising and greedy considering that 2nd gets plenty of points. Why waste an extra five minutes when your partner is just going to attack only you so you end up with 2nd anyway?

If you're in 1st and ally cuts you off from the last 3+ territories ask for flags and start attacking him. Some people will start doing this at an earlier time for no reason but I haven't seen it happen at the lower tables in awhile.

Personally I don't like alliance breaking and since I can't work with them I'd like to see them go out early in future games.

Incidentally, why does the kdice wiki tell you to betray your ally if they're weak?
