Hey all!

You all know the old mythology of phoenix, I think...

So. Sawing kaos - knew by his games with more then 2000 points - at an unlimited table with less then 1400 points brought me up to this idea:

How cool should it be to rise up like phoenix out of his ashes after a crash-down like this?

So I started a new avatar and crashed him down under 1000 points. I´m actually with 994 points the 3rd-worst player...

In the next days I will try to get a one-day-gain of perhaps 700 or 800 points...
Who will bet with me? Who will be better?
Join the PHOENIX-contest!

from wikipedia... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_%28mythology%29

... At the end of its life-cycle the phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises...

This is very difficult. Especially since there are players that will purposely keep you alive.

Best strategy is to never get cornered; stay as close to the middle as you can.

The psychology of manipulating people to move how you want them to still applys but the approach is different.

Very challenging!!

Attack the strongest players in proximity to your dice. ex: blue has 2 die you have 4, but blue has 6 die across the table where you have 2...

The amusing/aggravating part of this is that people are starting to get annoyed at Phoenix players. I actually gained 63 points before deciding to call it a night.

I'm on a quest to see how low Elo will take me (I'm presuming that once I start gaining 0 points for coming in 7th, I've reached my min score.) After that, it's go monkey go to the top, now that I've actually refined some strategies in trying to figure out how to lose that should lead me to win.

Your rating can go into negative if your opponents are low enough.

That's a pretty good gameplay idea for an unrated game, everyone chooses or is randomly assigned a position that they have to try and achieve. So everyone would be making bad plays while trying to mess up the unknown plans of others.

I've started to run into alot of vigilantes went to 896 and got held into second place on purpose finished the night back up to 1100.

I've started a new strategy of trying to appear to win by scanning the board to see who has the most territories (and highest score) and attacking those players.

You have to be very careful not to give anyone an unfair advantage while pursuing 7th place...

You also have to be careful not to screw yourself by attacking some one who starts the game spread out w/o joined territories. try to leae them be as they could end up taking your 7th finish.

With all the vigilantes and the really bad players on the low tables you have to be able to anticipate the probabilities of all the players moves. You basically have to control the whole board by psychology, the lower you get.

By the time you actually get below 1000 points you should've seen enough game play and familiarized yourself with a few players styles to avchieve this.

One last thing in this way too long post. you can only go so low on a given day before the game satrs to give you good (bad) luck.

I'm trying to stay at about -30 per day ohter wise you start getting prive placements and huge stacks.

Since the game is a beta I think we're doing a major service to the game as beta testers, to flush out not only the flaws but the possibilities. The phoenix project is a definite hack but in a good and non-malicious way.... not all hacks are bad.
