7 player boards: random incarnate

I recently found kdice and started playing here after a few months of Dice Wars. One thing that I find frustrating is that all games are 7 players.

In Dice Wars, I found that games with too few opponents disproportionately favour those who get to move first, but games with too many opponents have a disproportionally random initial phase and put several players in a situation with no other hope than to survive a few rounds. The useful range for the number of opponents on a 30-territory board seems to be 4-6. Starting with 5 opponents seems to produce the most balanced gameplay, where everyone usually has a fair shot at 2nd place, if not 1st.

It would be nice if there was a “league or whatever with only 5-player games.

Give the current format a little more time and you may be convinced that it works quite well. I am assuming (possibly incorrectly) that you only have the one profile, which indicates that you have played only 55 games, which in my opinion, isn't enough to form an opinion based on long term gameplay. After gaining experience, I think you'll find that in less than 10% of games will you be in such a weak position that you will go out in the first few rounds. Smart play and opponents who have taken my weak position lightly have resulted in 1st place finishes after I've been reduced to as little as one territory with 3 dice. Those are the games that are the most fun, when you "come back from the dead". Enjoy the challenge of a weak start.
