It seems that much of the really offensive stuff in the forum is posted under profiles with no games played, created only for the purpose of posting offensive stuff.
Ryan, it may be useful to limit posts to those who have played at least 10 games (or more or less as you see fit). It would also eliminate some of the posts from newbies who don't take the time to read the wiki or play a few games before asking silly questions. |

Not sure how easy/difficult for Ryan to enforce this types of limits though. It's funny how these people that think any obscenity is OK, are ashamed/affraid to post it with the user they are playing, so they delegate the trash talking to 0 games played accounts. |

Not sure what your concern is. Of course players have multiple accounts. I have 3. And I know that it is easy to get to 10 games, but for those who create an account just to post offensive stuff in the forum, it would require a little effort and time, so it may cut down a little on the garbage in the forum. Each time someone wanted to post something offensive in the forum, they would have to play 10 games on a new profile, because Ryan would likely block them from playing again on that profile and from posting again in the forum using it. It would be a simple (I am assuming) way for Ryan to filter out the worst of the garbage without having to clean it up after the fact. In the long run, it would probably save him some time and effort. Ryan - Keep up the good work. I appreciate your level of tolerance for people with different viewpoints, while getting rid of the losers who are only happy if they are offending others. You strike a good balance between granting us limited free speech on your site, while trying to keep the atmosphere as friendly as possible. |

at 10:13 PM, Wednesday March 21, 2007 EDT i see what you all are saying. i guess i could be more clear. yopur idea would surely prevent someone from just creating an account and post offensive comments. however, getting 10 games is not that time consuming (sit at multiple tables at the same time). and i someone really have a will to be offensive, such a measure will just delay the inevitable.

Although accountx3 may not have been at his most articulate in his first post, I understood his question to be asking "how hard is is to get to 10 games played?" - with the implied answer being "not very hard." My initial reply to him acknowledged exactly that. Read it again, and I think you'll agree that he is being consistent. Even if he was inconsistent, there is no need to quibble with him over such a minor point. I tend to think you get a bad rap from some people because you argue your points in a straightforward (some would say blunt) manner, but nitpicking someone's arguments without adding anything of substance to the discussion won't make you any friends. |

at 6:24 AM, Thursday March 22, 2007 EDT I'm not sure either, if those games-played limits will help.
How about a limit of accounts/IP-adress. Maybe four? A good one, a bad one, a phoenix and one for fun... Don't know if that's possible. But the need to play games will be quickly fullfilled and after that Ryan still needs to ban that player (if he really needs to). So there's not much to win by that limitation... |
